Set with the theme of “20 years back: 20 years forward” the Business Forum program will be focusing on managing and adapting to change. To talk us through their experiences in change, the day will host an array of keynote speakers including well-renowned AFL legend and farming advocate, Kevin Sheedy, CEO of Rural Bank, Alexandra Gartmann and 2014 National Rural Woman of the Year, Pip Job, as well as a number of highly regarded researchers including Co-Director of DairyBio, David Nation. 5 New Community Liaison Officers for Murray Dairy
Murray Dairy recently appointed 5 Dairy Community Liaison officers as part of the Murray Dairy Community Champions Project, whose role will be to assist with providing information about services and support to dairy farmers in the Murray Dairy region. The Liaison officers will initially focus on those businesses not engaged in or aware of the support and services available to them.
The appointees are based across the region in Lockington (Kris Munro), Stanhope (Andrew Hipwell & Rob Schloss), Katunga (Karen Rowlands) and North East (Cindy Lucas) and are all directly involved in the dairy industry themselves as either dairy farmers, workers or support businesses.

Develop Feed Plans for Livestock - Two Day Nutrition Course
This two day course at Corryong will highlight how to maximise pasture consumption and address feed gaps as cost efficiently and effectively as possible using supplements.
Invitation to Dairy Australia Review
Murray Dairy is inviting anyone who wishes to participate in a review of Dairy Australia’s performance to attend a session at Tatura on Friday 4 November.
The performance review is part of Dairy Australia’s Statutory Funding Agreement with the Commonwealth and requires that, every five years, there is an independent review undertaken.
This review relates to governance and compliance processes and procedures, and the terms of reference are agreed with the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources.
A firm of consultants will be working with representatives of Dairy Australia, the RDPs and industry stakeholders to gain an understanding of the work Dairy Australia does and its relationships with levy payers and the industry.

Calling all young dairy leaders for a life-changing trip
The United Dairyfarmers of Victoria (UDV) is urging all young dairy leaders to apply for the 2017 Gardiner Dairy Foundation UDV New Zealand Study Tour.
Fully funded by the Gardiner Dairy Foundation and incorporating a nationally accredited unit at Certificate IV level through the National Centre for Dairy Education, the study tour will take some of Victoria’s best young industry minds to New Zealand in February 2017 for an eight day tour. Quad bike protection rebates
The Victorian Government through the WorkSafe Victoria is encouraging farmers to take part in a $6 million rebate scheme for approved safety solutions to help reduce quad bike deaths. WorkSafe now accepts operator protection devices (OPD’s) fitted to a quad bike as part of the solution to controlling the risk to operators in the event of a rollover. The rebate is being administered by the Victorian Farmers Federation.
The final SoilCare grants are soon to be officially launched and they will close on Wednesday 30 November 2016. Grant applications up to $20,000 are been sort for soil related activities / projects with a total budget of around $200,000 to be allocated. Project applications might involve Whole Farm Plan Soil Mapping, water budging, soil tests, erosion control, production of booklets, small landholder information, pasture management, guest speakers, trial sites, workshops / forums, other projects you have seen you would like to run in your area. Dairy Farmer Central is a website designed to be a central source of information on programs, initiatives and events for dairy farmers and their communities. This includes the latest information around the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund for eligible Victorian school students, Drought loans and Dairy recovery Concessional Loans Scheme and the Farm household Allowance.
A number of events and opportunities are on around our region. This includes community and the last of the Look over the Farm Gate events, the funding for which has now been completed. Please refer to the Murray Dairy website and calendar for more information.

Visit the Mobile Service Centre to find out about Australian Government payments and services for rural families, older Australians, students, job seekers, people with disability, carers, farmers and self-employed people.
Staff can provide you with information and support. On this trip, the Australian Taxation Office will be available to assist with advice and information about tax and superannuation.
